Just like that, we have a ton of information leading up to the reveal of the next Call of Duty, which is now going to be announced on May 4th. The official Call of Duty website has updated with a countdown, which ends on the day of the reveal. The website contains a distorted image which is constantly moving, making it hard to discern what the image is. Previously, rumors suggested that the game is codenamed ‘BlackSmith’ and newer rumors claimed that it would be called ‘Patriots and set in WW1. The latest information may just debunk the latter rumor.
Firstly, the Twitter page of Call of Duty has recently updated with a picture of what seems to be the Golden Gate bridge, with text that mentions the reveal date above it. You can view this image below:
Earlier today, the Call of Duty YouTube page uploaded a new video entitled ‘Call of Duty – Superpower for Hire’, a mostly live-action video, talking about how war has gone from armies to PMCs (Private Military Corporations). This video drops several hints on what the possible setting and narrative of the new Call of Duty game will be about.
Gameinformer has released a new image for the upcoming game, which shows a soldier in high-tech armor with a visor, as well as several other unknown soldiers in the background. In line with the video’s talk of PMCs, these characters could be some of the PMCs that will be featured in the game. Gamesradar presents a very interesting breakdown of the image and other details.
Finally, the Call of Duty Twitter page posted a new video with a close up of a man’s eyes, with a narration by a man who seems to be Kevin Spacey. Above the posted video is the caption: “#ANewEra of Call of Duty arrives May 4th”. The official website also has the caption “Get Ready For A New Era Of Call Of Duty”. This tagline could either refer to the all new trilogy of games that was rumored or it could refer to a completely new direction for the series. The aforementioned video is down below.
There’s a ton of information but nothing concrete just yet. We’ll keep you posted when the reveal drops on May 4th. No consoles have been confirmed during any of these teasers, but we can more than likely expect the game to be for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
