Call Of Duty 2014 Codenamed ‘BlackSmith’, Announcement Coming Soon

by GH Staff

PSU has been informed that Call of Duty 2014 will be announced in May, ahead of E3 2014. The game has been internally codenamed as ‘BlackSmith’ and Activision plans to announce details of the new game very soon, whilst using E3 to reveal even more information, as they have done in the past. Rumors suggest that this year’s Call of Duty will be Modern Warfare 4, following right after the events of Modern Warfare 3 and featuring some familiar faces.

Sledgehammer recently revealed the first image of COD 2014, which is a close up screenshot of a soldier that greatly resembles Sgt. Foley from Modern Warfare 2. This image doesn’t necessarily mean that Sgt. Foley will be in the game since it’s mainly a way to showcase the detail of the game engine being used for the new game. Sledgehammer is developing COD 2014 on their own, without the help of Infinity Ward with whom they co-developed Modern Warfare 3 in 2011. Now, Call of Duty games are on a 3 year development cycle to allow each studio more time to create a dynamic experience.

Sledgehammer’s Glen Schofield is calling COD 2014 ‘creative’ and ‘ambitious’ and we’re more than likely not far away from a reveal, if the history of COD game reveals is any indication. Around this time last year, Call of Duty Ghosts was teased by the Twitter campaign #TheGhostsAreReal and the ‘Masked Warriors’ teaser trailer was released on May 1 2013.
