Of all the settings you’d expect, you might not have seen this coming. New reports from the source Bubble News suggest that the new Call of Duty game, codenamed ‘BlackSmith’, will actually be called ‘Call of Duty: Patriots’ and Smith Black will be one of the game’s main characters. The game will be set in a fictional version of World War 1 and will contain some fantasy elements, such as a character from a previous Call of Duty title appearing in an alternate reality. Could this be the first Call of Duty to fully embrace sci-fi or time travel?
The report from Bubble News continues by mentioning that the game will have both singleplayer and multiplayer modes as usual, but the singleplayer will be playable by co-op as well, but only online and not through splitscreen. The game’s campaign will apparently only last 6 hours however there will also be 2 sub-campaigns that can be played.
The game is rumored to be launching on November 14, which is the usual launch window for COD games. It will also be next gen only, for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but not for Xbox 360 or PS3 as previously thought. It also won’t be releasing for Wii U. The report mentions that Sledgehammer is planning this to be a 3 part series, meaning there will be sequels in the future.
This is a lot of very surprising news, what do you make of this new information about Call of Duty?
