Quantic Dream has confirmed that Christopher Schmitz, former head of Ubisoft Blue Byte, is the latest developer to join the French-based studio.

Schmitz, who has 22 years of experience in the gaming industry, has assumed the role of a new position, production director, at Quantic Dream.

Guillaume de Fondaumière, co-CEO and executive producer at Quantic Dream, said he welcomed the addition of “a well-versed professional.”

“Chris will be working in close collaboration with David Cage and myself, with the ambition to make our studio evolve into a next-generation game development powerhouse,” he said. “Our projects are very ambitious and innovative and we are looking for the industry’s best professionals to bolster and lead our team.”

Quantic Dream had teased last month that the studio would be announcing “great news” in January 2015—although the developer might actually have something else planned, of course.

“It is a pleasure and an honor to work for one of the most renowned AAA game development studios in Europe,” Schmitz said in a statement. “Due to QD’s track record and experience in the creation of benchmark products, it was just a perfect and natural choice for me!”

Last month, a fan-made port of Beyond: Two Souls, Quantic Dream’s PlayStation 3-exclusive IP, had its development shut down after Fondaumière contacted the individual who was working on the project.

Since the release of Beyond: Two Souls in 2013, Quantic Dream has been working on two brand-new games for Sony’s PlayStation 4, with both projects having had very little information revealed.

Meanwhile, the developer released a statement that paid respect to the 12 victims of the recent attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France.
