The Official PlayStation Magazine UK has recently released the cover for their October issue, and surprise, it’s zombie-themed! Featured games include Resident Evil, Dying Light, H1Z1, The Walking Dead, Dead Island 2, and…Grand Theft Auto V!? This particular issue is set to hit newsstands on September 2nd.
Grand Theft Auto V: Undead Nightmare?
What’s most noticeable about the cover, aside from the wonderfully violent artwork, is the previously mentioned Grand Theft Auto V being grouped among the predominantly zombie-centric games. So there is a possibility that the next GTAV update/DLC may include some form of the walking dead.
To add even more fuel to the fire, gaming site, Inquisitr, has previously reported on certain bits of GTAV code being mined by members of the GTA forums. Apparently, they found pieces of code that refer to the possibility of zombies in both single and multiplayer modes of Grand Theft Auto V. The code included phrases such as, “main_ZMB” and “SPZOMBIES,” which lends some additional support to the potential inclusion of the undead into the game.
Speaking of undead, Rockstar is certainly no stranger to the world of walkers, with 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, and subsequent zombie-themed DLC, Undead Nightmare being critically acclaimed worldwide. Undead Nightmare went on to become of the best selling add-on content packs the developer ever released. With that in mind, and the fact that Halloween season is coming up in about a month, if Rockstar were to release a zombie add-on for Grand Theft Auto V, now would be the perfect time to do so.
This is all rumor and speculation, of course, so take it with a grain of salt. Rockstar is notorious for keeping the lid shut on future releases (even the current-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V still don’t have a release date). However, with the positive reception of Undead Nightmare, and Halloween right around the corner, anything is possible. This article will be updated with the appropriate information if, or when it is acquired.
What do you think of a zombie-themed expansion pack for Grand Theft Auto V? If you stopped playing GTAV a while ago, would this get you back into Los Santos?
