Official PlayStation Magazine readers have voted Crash Bandicoot as the No. 1 PlayStation mascot of all time.

The UK-based magazine’s February issue will reveal the full top 20 icons that have appeared on Sony’s consoles, with thousands upon thousands of people having casted their votes.

Originally created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin, founders of developer Naughty Dog, Crash made his debut on Sony’s PlayStation 1 and appeared in more than 10 titles, including major installments and spin-off games.

Hideo Kojima’s prominent Metal Gear Solid series makes two appearances on the list, as Solid Snake takes second place and Big Boss is seventh in the top 10 characters.

Meanwhile, God of War’s Kratos and Uncharted’s Nathan Drake are respectively third and fourth in the list, while Mortal Kombat’s two iconic fighters—Sub-Zero and Scorpion—are joint fifth on the readers’ poll.

“Despite being absent from our screens since 2008, the original PlayStation Icon [Crash Bandicoot] remains in the hearts of modern gamers,” OPM editor Matthew Pellett said in the press release.

“Our readers have spoken loud and clear: even though Naughty Dog has moved on to blockbusters such as the Uncharted series and The Last of Us, the developer’s PS1 marsupial still casts a shadow over all other gaming characters.

“Thousands of people voted Crash Bandicoot into the number one spot and calls for his return to PlayStation grow louder every single month.”
