Final Fantasy XV’s demo, titled Episode Duscae, is at the ”80% production mark”, the game’s Lead Designer, Wan Hazmer has confirmed in a Tumblr post.

Originally mentioned by the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, in an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, the demo has entered the final stages of production and all that remains is the ”optimization, polishing and debugging,” Hazmer said in his post.

Hazmer describes the final 20% of production as ”crucial” and ”HELL ON EARTH,” but something he is looking forward to. He explains that the battle system and open world explorations are new to the Final Fantasy franchise, and that he and the team are looking towards the end of the demo’s production in order to hear fan feedback.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae will include several of the main game’s features for us to experience such as the day/night cycle, the need for food in order to level up, a full town to explore and a single Summon, said to be ”quite powerful”, so that players can learn first hand how Summons will work in the new franchise entry.

The trailer above was released at the tail end of last year during the annual Jump Fiesta event in Tokyo where a ton of new details were revealed about the game and it’s demo.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae will be available exclusively to those who pre order Final Fantasy Type-0, or manage to get hold of a first print edition, which is due out March 17th in the US, and March 20th in PAL territories for Xbox One and PS4. Final Fantasy XV itself is yet to receive an official release date, with many believing we will see it at the end of this year, or sometime in 2016.
