Dead Rising Movie Director Shares Details

Zack Lipovsky, director for the upcoming Dead Rising movie, has shared some details on the upcoming film.

During an interview with SlashFilm, Lipovsky describes the film, titled Dead Rising: Watchtower, as having “fun, scary, dramatic action” and that it will be “Indiana Jones with zombies.” Also confirmed was that the upcoming film will not be an adaptation of one of the video games, but instead it’s own standalone film as Lipovsky describes:

The film is set in a new outbreak with new heroes, in a new city. So it’s not a direct adaptation of one of the previous games, but it does fit into the cannon of the storyline. It takes place between the Fortune City outbreak in Dead Rising 2 and Los Perdidos outbreak from Dead Rising 3.

Also announced were the cast members of the film that include the following actors:

  • Jesse Metcalfe
  • Meghan Ory
  • Virginia Madsen
  • Dennis Haysbert
  • Keagan Connor Tracy

While no characters, including those from the games, were announced, during the interview Lipovsky did hint very heavily that Frank West would make some form of an appearance in the upcoming film.

Dead Rising: Watchtower will be released digitally to the streaming service Crackle in the US and will eventually receive a home video release at some point after it’s digital release.
