It’s Monday, so let’s take a look at what’s coming our way this week in terms of new games and new releases!
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
First, if you weren’t paying attention this weekend, then I’m here to remind you that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was released on Thursday and can now be picked up via Steam. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, over the top action game, you should definitely consider getting into Revengeance. The game has already received mostly positive reviews for its PC version, and provides quite the button-smashing fun! Sword in hand, slice through your enemies with brutal precision and enjoy the pretty good replay factor, with hidden items and secrets, all of which make for an engaging singleplayer experience

Nidhogg
Moving on, but staying in the sword-fighting category, Nidhogg is being released today, the 13th of January. Nidhogg is a dynamic fencing game, where two players face off in a pixelated, but bloody environment. While the graphics are odd and often remind us of the first Prince of Persia games, the game still has huge appeal, and it’s an Indie we can highly recommend.
Europa Universalis 4: Conquest of Paradise
One sword isn’t enough for you? Grab Europa Universalis 4: Conquest of Paradise then! The new expansion pack for EU4 is coming out tomorrow, on the 14th of January, and it’s bringing a lot of new content to the table. The expansion pack is focused around the colonization period of North America, and with a new randomization system, you’ll get plenty of replayability.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD
From swords to…daggers! The 14th of January also brings Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game that was initially planned to be a PS Vita exclusive will now be available to a much larger audience. For the first time in the series, take control over a female assassin, namely Aveline de Grandpré, a French and African-American descendant that doesn’t need voting rights to make a difference. Set in late 18th century Louisiana, the game has some great places to explore, and a rich history to show off. If you need a change of scenery from Black Flag’s pirate battles, make sure to pick Assassin’s Creed Liberation up.
The Banner Saga
Next on the list is a great PC RPG, The Banner Saga. The Banner Saga brings great story-telling and atmosphere, combined with a unique graphical look and an engaging turn-based combat system. And, all of it is being accompanied by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory’s music. Definitely something to look forward to. The game will be released on the 14th of January for the PC.
Dream Adventure and Mario Party
Nintendo 3DS users also have something to look forward to this week. Mario & Luigi RPG 4: Dream Adventure will be released on Thursday, the 16th, while Mario Party: Island Tour will come out the following day, Friday the 17th. Definitely enough Mario to go around!
Rambo: The Video Game – Machine of War
Lastly (and this is more of a warning than a recommendation), Rambo: The Videogame – Machine of War will be released on Friday the 17th. While I haven’t played the game and reviews aren’t out yet, it’s not hard to tell that the game is bad. You can take a look at what to expect with Rambo in our trailer analysis, but considering that you’ll be paying full retail price for a game that looks and most likely plays terribly, you might want to take your money elsewhere.
