There are two major updates for the Elder Scrolls Online today. First, Bethesda and Zenimax have launched pre-orders for the game today, with a Standard Edition and an Imperial Edition for the game. Both PC versions will include a 5 day pre-access entry code, which means that players pre-ordering can start playing the game sooner than the 4th of April release date (most likely on the 31st of March). Additionally, buying the game gets you a one month access period, after which a monthly subscription will be required.
Pre-ordering the Elder Scrolls Online will also allow you to play any race in any alliance, and will include a Scuttler pet and some bonus treasure maps. The Imperial Edition comes at a higher price, but features some extra goodies, mainly the ability to play as an Imperial, craft and use Imperial armors, turn regular armors into Imperial designed-ones, as well as a unique white Imperial horse as a mount (with the benefit of a slightly increased movement speed). That’s not all however. The Imperial Edition of ESO will include a Mudcrab pet (not sure why anyone would want to be constantly followed around by a disease carrying mudcrab), and a pair of Mara rings, which will allow players to perform a ritual and bind themselves to a friend for some added XP bonuses while questing together.
The digital version of the Elder Scrolls Online – Standard Edition costs €54.99 (or £50), while the Imperial Edition costs €79.99 (or £70). Playstation 4 and Xbox One users can also pre-order retail versions for the game, but these will not include an early access card, as the game’s official release date has not been specifically set. Console users will get the game sometime in June, with an exact date to be announced at a later time. There’s also a Retail-specific Imperial Edition version available, which is priced at €149.99, and will include a 12 inch tall Molag Bal Statuette, a 224 page long Emperor’s Guide to Tamriel (illustrated and all) and a Map of Tamriel.
The second major news concerning the Elder Scrolls Online is the release of an impressive, 8-minute long CGI trailer that picks off where the Alliances trailer left off. It’s visually impressive, no doubt, and probably cost the company a fortune. The trailer emphasizes the fact that players of the Elder Scrolls Online will not only face the invading forces of Molag Bal, but will also face opposing factions. Temporary alliances may or may not be necessary for survival. Take a look at the trailer below:
