CyberPowerPC, the custom desktop, gaming notebook and workstation building company, has released information about two new Steam Machines. With the increasing attention Valve’s platform is gaining, more and more companies are revealing plans for building customizable consoles aimed at Linux-based gaming. CyberPowerPC is no exception, with two different models priced at $500 (the price of an Xbox One) and $700.
The $500 version will be based on a 3.9GHz A6 AMD CPU and Radeon R9 270 graphics card, with 2GB of RAM. The more expensive counterpart will be Intel/Nvidia based, with a 3.5GHz clocked i3 CPU and a GTX760 GPU, and will also include 802.11ac Wifi. Both systems will receive 8GB of RAM, and will also include Bluetooth support, Wifi and a Steam controller. Should you be unhappy with the configurations, you can tweak and upgrade both, and the sky (and your wallet, obviously) will be the limit.
With this years Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2014) starting tomorrow, many more manufacturers are expected to unveil their own configurations for different Steam Machines. We’re curious to see what Alienware brings to the table, and what price-tags will accompany their consoles, as the Dell-owned branch is known to provide top-of-the-line products with an often overpriced tag.
