More Details about Fallout 4’s Survival Mode emerge, Open Beta now on Steam
Bethesda’s Survival Mode for Fallout 4 is now available to anyone who owns a Steam version of the game. You can find all you want regarding the beta in here.
Following the release of this beta, Bethesda also announced more details regarding the new difficulty level that promises to transform the Commonwealth into a more dangerous and realistic post-apocalyptic landscape.
In the post, Bethesda says that they wanted to recreate how it feels to play Fallout 4, and that this new Survival Mode is inspired by the Dark Souls franchise which will supposedly obligate players to make “tougher choices” regarding 4 major systems.
- Strategy: Intensify decisions involving when to get into combat versus when to avoid it, and also make you think more about what gear to take into combat. Then back up those decisions with faster, more brutal fights.
- Exploration: Slow down the pace of the game and encourage players to explore the nooks and crannies of the world.
- Resource Management: Balance out items in the world that may be too easy to acquire or horde, giving players more to consider when planning their current loadout.
- Role Playing: Increase the realism of the world and the issues one might face there.
Survival Mode will also wipe out any chances for the player to autosave/quicksave; deactivate fast travelling; increase damage enemies inflict on the player; highlight the importance of food/water/resting, between many many, more dangerous where “everything matters“. Will you be brave enough to face the Commonwealth all by yourself?
