Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Confirmed to Release in 2018

The Sega Sammy Group has recently confirmed that a Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be released in 2018.

During a recent interview, Hajime Satomi, Sega Sammy Holdings President and CEO, confirmed that the Sonic the Hedgehog film will see a release at some point in 2018. Satomi stated the following:

“Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie scheduled for release in 2018. Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved.”

Reports of a Sonic the Hedgehog film were first revealed back in 2014, with confirmations that Neal Moritz, producer of 22 Jump Street and Goosebumps, will serve as producer for the Sonic film.

I wonder if these movies are actually profitable. Ratchet and Clank looks like a Pixar movie and might hit a cord with the general audiences.
