Leslie Benzies Leaves Rockstar After 15 Years
Leslie Benzies, lead developer and president of Rockstar North Studios, has left the company.
According to Kotaku, Leslie, who had been on a “sabbatical” position for the past months with Rockstar, is officially not working with them anymore.
The news were confirmed when Rockstar stated: “Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company.“, followed by a quick thank you note that said: “We are very grateful for Leslie’s contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years.“
Benzies joined Rockstar back in ’99, working in the DMA Design division, back when Rockstar was still developing Grand Theft Auto: London 1969. He then grow up to be one of the main producers by the time Grand Theft Auto 3 was being planned. He was later on promoted to lead the company, which he obviously did by the time the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto V was being released.
Benzies will certainly not be forgotten, leaving a big mark on the gaming industry and the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
