MegaMan Board Game Nearing Release

by Archive

Remember that MegaMan board game Kickstarter about a year ago? Well, so much for the Fall 2014 estimated delivery date! Jasco Games is still working on it, but there have been significant but revealing delays.

While Jasco has been able to complete an upcoming update to their Universal Fighting System (UFS) TCG franchise as mentioned on their Facebook page, the board game which caused gamers like myself to learn their name is still waiting for an official release date.

The two most recent updates on the game are quite revealing. The first one, which details the approval process, notes that Capcom is very specific about how it wants the Blue Bomber represented, from nose angles to “mohawk” height. The example pictures are quite revealing! Apparently, the first artist, while doing a good job on other models, just couldn’t handle MegaMan, requiring another modeler to step up to the plate.

The second and most recent update further confirms the approval process as a large contributor to the delay, but typesetting (the physical layout of the text) is getting closer to completion, sitting at 85%. Jasco is hoping for a Q2 release, but we’ll update you as we learn more.

Update: After contacting Jasco, it should be noted that “[e]very staff member collaborates on both projects.”
