Updated Zelda III features Cut Scenes & CD Quality Sounds

by GH Staff

Originally announced at RetroCollect.com on November 2nd, 2014, the Legend of Zelda III: a Link to the Past on the Super Nintendo has received an update that includes Full Motion Video (FMV) cutscenes and CD quality audio.  However, the release and accomplishment does not come from Nintendo; instead, hardware hacker Byuu (who built BSNES and Higan) has created MSU-1 chip that allowed the playback of CD quality audio on the Super Nintendo but also Full Motion Video too. Fortunately, Retro Game Magazine will have more specific coverage on the enhancements in the upcoming third issue. Although the previous issues costed $8.99, Carl Williams (a writer from Retro Game Magazine) has reported that the monthly issues will be reduced to $4.99, which starts for the digital and print copies in the third entry and onwards.

Though it’s nice to see more hackers evolve former titles that need restoration, it’ll take a community for moral support, funds, and time. For more information, please follow the original source.
