The Meizu MX4 Pro Is a True iPhone 6 Plus Killer
The iPhone 6 Plus and Meizu MX4 Pro share many similarities like having a minimalist user-interface that is gorgeous and colorful. Meizu utilizes the octa-core CPU featuring four Cortex-A17 cores running at 2.2GHz along with four Cortex-A7 cores operating at 1.7GHz. The GPU is a quad-core PowerVR G6200 and the phone has 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
The iPhone utilizes the A8 chipset which boasts a dual-core 1.4GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6650 hexa-core GPU. There is also an integrated M8 motion co-processor. The iPhone has the ability to distinguish between running and cycling sports and calculate distances, air pressure and elevation.
From a design perspective, the Meizu MX4 Pro feels like a premium phone as the shell is constructed of high-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy that weighs approximately 147 grams. Also, the size of the phone is extremely thin at only 8.9mm. Consumers have the option of selecting from white, gold and grey colors. This shell color option seems to be inspired by the iPhone’s color variety.
Apple continues to use the best-in-class designs for its phones. The iPhone 6 utilizes anodized aluminum, glass and stainless steel for its construction that is 6.9mm’s thick. The result is a premium feeling phone that feels fantastic in the hand.
The Meizu MX4 features powerful imaging due to its 20.7MP Sony Exmore RS sensor. Other features include a dual-LED dual-tone flash which delivers improved images in the lowest-light conditions. The lens is constructed from Gorilla Glass 3 and the video shoots at 4K at 30fps. The front camera also boasts a Sony sensor as takes images at 2MP’s and can capture 1080p videos.
Apple continues to utilize the 8 megapixel sensor but has improved the speed at which pictures are taken. Therefore, it is one of the most practical smartphone cameras with a 1.2 megapixel front camera capable of video chats.
The Meizu features a 3100 mAh battery which offers around 25 hours of talk time. The iPhone 6 Plus boasts a 2915 mAh battery for 24 hours of talk time. Neither phone offers wireless charging.
The Meizu MX4 Pro boasts a redesigned interface under the Flyme OS 4.0. Unfortunately the design is flat but comes with new features such as animations, motion blur a variety of third-party applications.
Apple’s iOS8 delivers a gorgeous-looking experience. The newest offerings include the ability to use third-party keyboards, some animations, wallpapers and fast everything.
The 16GB variant of the Meizu MX4 is available at an international price of $320 whereas the 16GB version of the iPhone 6 can be purchased in the United Kingdom at a price of $650.
Both options offer similar specs and are an excellent choice for smartphones. If you do not mind dropping $650 on a smartphone then you should choose the iPhone 6 Plus. However, if you want a more affordable phone with similar power, software and design then the Meizu MX4 Pro is your best option.
