Capcom Releases New Screenshots and Concept Art for Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Publisher Capcom has released brand-new screenshots and concept art for the upcoming survival horror title Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

The images feature main protagonist Claire Redfield and Moira, Barry Burton’s daughter, fighting off a whole host of infected creatures found in Revelations 2.

Meanwhile, Barry Burton, who was confirmed as another playable character in the title last year, also makes an appearance in a few of the screenshots.

One of the images, however, reveals that a character called Natalia can use her “special ability” to identify a weakness that an enemy may possess, allowing Barry to use this to his advantage.

Alongside the screenshots Capcom included concept art for three creatures — Sploder, Othrus and Revenant — that will be found in Revelations 2.

Courtesy of the Resident Evil Facebook page, the descriptions for the Sploder, Othrus and Revenant are listed below:

Revenant: a creature made up of multiple bodies sewn together. Very tough and presents a real challenge even when facing just one of them. The virus that has multiplied inside them forms a ‘core,’ which is a weak point you can attack for massive damage. If you use Natalia’s special ability you can “see” where the core is on each enemy.

Othrus: wild beasts infected by some kind of virus. Small, nimble and vicious, they attack in packs, so it’s best to try to take each one out as soon as possible before they overwhelm you. They have been spotted in both Claire and Barry’s sections.

Sploder: A mutated version of the Afflicted. The pustules on their body can potentially explode when attacked so make sure you take them out from a distance. Their explosions releases a vile liquid which can blind the player, perhaps Moira’s flashlight can keep them at bay?

Revelations 2 will be released in an episodic format over the course of 2015 and each episode costs $5.99 (€5.99) or $24.99 (€24.99) for the complete Season Pass.

The first episode for Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will be released worldwide in February 2015 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

Looks good, I still don’t know why they wont remake RE2, it was the best game of the series. That one and RE3.

The question remains whether they are making a shooting game or a horror game. Resident Evil has departed too far away from horror.
