next Dark Souls 2 patch

More items, a new NPC, online fixes and more will be coming in the next Dark Souls 2 patch

Today their website Bandai Namco released the patch notes for the next Dark Souls 2 patch. The patch will be released on February 5th and will help players get ready for the release of the Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin Edition with new story elements curiously of the Scholar of the First Sin themselves as well as some new item descriptions.

Players will finally be able to somewhat control the Soul Levels with the new Agape Ring.

As nice as the new Apage Ring is, couldn’t they just get rid of Soul Levels instead.

On top of the new story elements the patch will include plenty of fixes and items including the brand new Agape Ring which will collect the souls of the enemies players kill instead of them, finally giving players a way to manage their Soul Levels. Speaking of items the new patch will tweak some of the games items including the Rusted Coins, means that Awestone to drop more often and removes the blur caused by using the binoculars amongst others.

Moving away from the items PS3 players are in luck because the patch will shorten the load times for the PS3 version only and calibration will no longer be saved each time before the title screen. Players will also finally be able to skip the ending sequence of the game on their second playthrough and above.

Players interested in online play will be happy to hear that the new patch will show off the three best areas for players to connect to each other from the bonfire warp screen making it easier to find the best areas for some invading/summoning. The patch will also make connecting to other players easier in general and white phantoms will no longer disappear during boss fights.

Finally the covenants will also be updated in the new patch too. The Covenant of Champions will soon end up being a popular covenant to join because after the patch players will still be able to fight enemies that should have disappeared, but beware because the patch will also increase the damage done by enemies while players are a member of this covenant. After this patch the Bell Keepers will start dropping either Titanite Chunk, Titanite Slab, Twinkling Titanite or Petrified Dragon Bone when killed, while the Rat Covenant members will also get Smooth & Silky Stones when they kill.

These changes are just some that will be coming in the next Dark Souls 2 patch which is due out on Febraury 7th and you can read the full list of patch notes here.
