Xbox Head – “Consoles Are Fine”

Xbox One Outsells PS4 November

As previously mentioned, Microsoft’s Xbox One outsold Sony’s PlayStation 4 this November for the first time since both consoles’ release in November of 2013.

It appears that Microsoft’s decisions to cut the Xbox One’s retail price from $399 to $349 and offer some attractive game bundles assisted in the console’s victory over the PlayStation 4, which was cut down to $400, last moth.

Furthermore, Xbox One sales were undoubtedly bolstered by various retailers’ Black Friday deals, with some selling the console for $329 – along with the aforementioned game bundles.

As this time, Microsoft has shipped approximately 10 million Xbox One consoles, as compared to Sony’s 13.5 million PlayStation 4s. Microsoft has been pulling out all the stops this holiday seasons, and the sales divide between the Xbox One and PS4 is expected to diminish both during and after the Christmas holiday.

What are your thoughts on the “death of consoles?” Is it simply a myth, a hyperbolic statement said by some disgruntled console gamer or is it a valid perspective?

Also, what do you think of the Xbox One’s triumph over the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales this past November? Were you surprised or did you expect as much?
