The Witcher 3 dev on latest delay: Content is locked, focus on visual optimization

The Witcher 3 dev on latest delay - Content is locked, all about visual optimization

As a preface, earlier this month – CD Projekt RED announced that it had pushed The Witcher 3‘s release date farther back than was originally planned (from February 2015 to May 2015), citing that the delay was ultimately necessary in order to fulfill everything the studio wanted the game to be.

The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher 3, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected

Marcin Iwinski, the CEO of CD Projekt RED, has recently revealed some rather interesting information regarding The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt‘s latest delay.

According to Nerdacy, who has spoken with Iwinski, CD Projekt RED’s CEO stated that The Witcher 3’s latest delay will not change any of the game’s content, but will focus rather on visual optimization across all available platforms – specifically the game’s resolution and framerates.

Iwinski stated the following regarding what CD Projekt RED will be focusing on during the delay:

We are removing the final bugs and still running optimization in various areas. What it will result in is a smoother and more engaging experience and, yes, the game looking better across all platforms.

The content is locked, so no content changes are being made at this point. The scale of the open world in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is unprecedented, so fear not–there is enough gameplay to keep you playing for weeks.”

It appears the CD Projekt RED is utilizing the extra development time from The Witcher 3‘s latest delay to bring the best Witcher experience to all gamers, regardless of what game system (or PC) they own.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is set to release on May 19th, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

What are your thoughts on Iwinski’s statements regarding the game’s latest delay? Are you happy that the game has been delayed in order to bring the best Witcher 3 experience to all gamers? Why or why not?
