During the Comic Fiesta 2014 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia, Square Enix held a special panel entitled “The History and Future of Final Fantasy,” which brings Final Fantasy XV Producer (Shinji Hashimoto) and Lead Game Designer (Wan Hazmer) to reveal more details about the upcoming installment! During the presentation, they have apparently stated that the Malaysian culture and tradition has a huge influence in a virtual town called Lestallum that’s seen in the Jump Festa Trailer and appeared to be similar to Kuala Lumpur!
Additionally, the guest speakers have confirmed these facts as well:
- Some artwork of Lestallum and its NPCs was showcased (including a hotel room where Noctis can stay), alongside footage of some of the actions NPCs can perform (See in this video here). They can prepare Malaysian food, an element inspired by Mr. Hazmer who happens to be a Malaysian himself.
- The Malaysian food in the game is teh tarik, satay and roti canai.
- NPCs in the city will be unique.
- Ignis is the one doing the cooking at the campsite and prepares meals depending on the ingredients given to him.
- Day/night cycle is set at 60 minutes in real time. 40 Minutes day, 15 minutes night.
- Titans cannot be summoned, but summons will be available in the Episode Duscae demo.
- The game will include an “unique weapon system” and summon system. Weapons will provide different move sets.
- If you don’t camp, you cannot level up.
- Is Stella Nox Fleuret still in Final Fantasy XV? “No Comment” (Hazmer laughed while responding this question)
As a quick reminder, Final Fantasy XV demo can be accessed for North American fans if they purchase Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on March 17th; for Japanese fans on March 19th; for Europeans on March 20th; on either the XBox One or PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, no release date has been confirmed for the actual game.
