During Sony’s first annual PlayStation Experience event, it was revealed that Shovel Knight, the critically acclaimed, KickStarted indie Platformer inspired by the 8-Bit era of gaming, will be coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms in 2015.
Shovel Knight is Yacht Club Games’ 2D side-scrolling Platformer that is very reminiscent of classic retro games such as Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda and Castlevania with its pixel art style and gameplay mechanics, and even modern titles like Dark Souls that was released this Summer on the Wii U, 3DS and PC platforms. We absolutely loved it.
Additionally, Shovel Knight’s developers have partnered up with Sony Santa Monica to feature God of War‘s main protagonist, Kratos, in the PlayStation version of Shovel Knight. Sadly nothing has been mentioned regarding the beloved Sony character’s implementation in the retro-inspired title, but an animated GIF posted on the PlayStation Blog hints at the possibility that Kratos will be a playable character in Shovel Knight.
