We will update you with any changes that may occur with the status of the network.” The PlayStation Network began experiencing online connectivity issues on December 24, 2014.

Sony announced a statement on the PlayStation blog earlier today, stating that “The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay,”  the article goes on too say “Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.”

Infamous hacker group Lizard Squad have recently taken credit for the outage, stating they did it “mostly to raise awareness – and to amuse ourselves. ”  In their most recent tweet the group announced the end of the attacks, saying  “We are no longer attacking PSN or XBL, nor are any members.
