The first battle competition for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be running from January 23rd to January 25th, 2015, Pokémon.com has announced.
Called “Battle of Hoenn Online Competition,” registration for the battle competition is available on the Pokémon Global Link from January 15th to January 22nd, 2015, while every region (excluding Japan) is eligible to participate in the event.
Battle of Hoenn Online Competition, as the name suggests, centres on Pokémon found in the Hoenn Pokédex, but the third-generation legendaries — Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi and Deoxys — are all banned from the tournament.
According to Pokémon Global Link’s rules and regulations for the battle competition, each match will have a 30-minute timer and Pokémon will automatically be raised or lowered to level 50.
Gamer Headlines’ review for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire commended developer Game Freak’s ability to “fully succeed” in delivering revamped versions of the original 2002 Game Boy Advance titles, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
