Hideo Kojima is a distinguished figure for the accomplishments he has achieved in the gaming industry with his illustrious Metal Gear Solid franchise, but more recently, the Japanese developer has talked about some of the problems he had with Sony on one of his other well-known titles: Policenauts.

During the latest episode of Kojima Station, Kojima revealed his conflicting views with Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, on the topic of adult content in Policenauts — specifically the case of “breast touching.”

“Apparently Kojima and [Shuhei Yoshida] had discussions about the adult content in Policenauts,” JunkerHQ translated on Twitter.

“So it seems Kojima and Shuhei Yoshida did get into “an intense dispute over the breast touching issue” and they had to limit it.

“Kojima was pissed at the time, from the sound of it.

“Sony: “We’re going to need to decide on a limit to the breast touching.” Kojima: “Oh gimme a break!” [Actual conversation.]”

Policenauts was Kojima’s first title on Sony’s PlayStation 1 and was released exclusively in Japan in 1996, which was subsequently followed with the release of his critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid in 1998.

Kojima’s eagerly awaited Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain came under heavy criticism last year for its overtly sexualised representation of the deadly sharpshooter Quiet, while this year’s Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes received a “sexual violence” warning from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

Running on Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is rumoured to launch in Q2 of 2015 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
