Charlie Nash Confirmed As Street Fighter V Character

by GH Staff

Capcom has revealed the first new character you can expect in the next Street Fighter game; Charlie Nash. Unveiled during the final day of the 2014 Capcom Cup tournament, Charlie Nash seems to be an upgraded version of a character – who also appeared under the name Charlie Nash – who made his first appearance in Street Fighter Alpha. You can watch Charlie Nash’s character tease below.

The reveal originally looked like it would just be your typical game play trailer, right up until near the end of the trailer, where Charlie Nash makes a very surprising appearance.

Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono appeared on stage dressed as Charlie Nash after the event to discuss Street Fighter V and to announce the Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup will continue next year, with a $500,000 prize purse. Speaking at the event, he said:

“We’ve been hard at work at Street Fighter 5, and we promise this product will be the one that brings fighting games into the next era. This will be a huge step for us and our community.”

The next iteration in the series will also feature cross-platform play, allowing users from both the PS4 and PC to battle against one another, confirmed Ono at the PlayStation Experience. Also, according to some recent reports, the game will not be free to play, but rather a “packaged” game.

So far, there has been no official announcement as to when the game will be released. However, according to a listing on Amazon, the game may be pretty far off. According to the listing, which was updated pretty recently, the game won’t be released until March 31, 2016 for the PlayStation 4. That’s right folks, we’ve got another 15 months until Street Fighter V is released and we get to test out Charlie Nash.
