WGN America’s “Manhattan” Officially Announced Its Renewal of Its 2nd Season

The question whether Manhattan will be cancelled or renewed for its second season was already answered. WGN America officially announces the renewal of the cable series “Manhattan” for its 2nd Season. The decision to have it renewed for its 2nd season came up days before its first-season finale on Sunday. Manhattan’s renewal does not seem to surprise its audience as WGN America has shared this year, that the show has been receiving a good critical reception and audience response, with its first season. Aside from “Manhattan”, another WGN America series “Salem” was also renewed for its second run.

The series, which was set in the backdrop of nuclear development, explores the race to build the world’s 1st atomic bomb. This series gives about 1.2 million total viewers during the first season. Only proves its success on its first aired episode. This series was created by Sam Shaw and directed by Thomas Schlamme. It is executively produced by Shaw and Helmer Thomas Schlamme for Lionsgate TV, Skydance Television and Tribune studios. Drama stars featuring Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams and Daniel Stern were also part of the successful series.

The President and General Manager of WGN America, Matt Cherniss mentioned he is great and inspired by the success of the series so far. He said that Manhattan shows and signifies a high quality original TV series they would like to have in WGN America. Also said that they are very much overwhelmed with how the show was criticized and welcomed by its loyal audience and viewers. This is what Cherniss said after he officially announced the renewal of the series “Manhattan”.

Cherniss also thanked and mentioned the outstanding performance of the talented cast of the series, who are Sam, Tommy and of course the team beyond the creative creation of the Manhattan episodes. Without their hard works and creativity, this series will not be brilliantly brought into life. He showed his excitement of what the 2nd season will bring to its audiences.
Manhattan features Ashley Zukerman, Olivia Williams, John Benjamin Hickey and Daniel Stern. The final episode of the first season’s finale aired on Sunday, 19th of October on WGN America.
