Thanking Indie Developers Day Eight: Evony

by GH Staff

After one whole week of celebrating some familiar indie game developers, Gamer Headlines continues to recognize them and Evony as the eighth entry. Released on May 6, 2009, Evony has been established as a massive multiplayer online game with real time strategy, a medieval setting, and player versus player (PvP) combat. Besides these features, personal computer users can build up to ten kingdoms from collecting resources to support large armies. However, most folks will perish on these servers if they don’t join a well-coordinated and active alliance.

After laying down the scope of the game, someone has written this thank you message to the developer:

“Thanks for developing and executing a worthy title that consumed three years of my life. While some folks are willing to spend some money on Ultimate Game Cards to grab items from the microtransaction shops, anyone can survive without spending a cent if they’re willing to spend some hardcore hours. Therefore, I’m hoping that you guys will alter the reward system for individuals who actually earn their rank in a future update. On the other hand, I remember recruiting my brother and friends to join my growing alliance. It was fun having to chat with them in the thread during the idle hours, but it takes some persistence and effort to really coordinate effective attacks when my friends and the lower-rank individuals who might leave without a note. Though the heroes can be slaughter and kingdoms can be taken away by a stronger alliance, it’s easy to recover and keeps you on your toes. You should definitely give this game a try if you like leadership and group challenges.”
