Terraria coming to PS4 and Xbox One next week

by GH Staff

The popular world-building game Terraria will be released on current gen consoles next week. The game will hit PlayStation 4 on 11th November and Xbox One on 14th November. The game has previously been released on a whole host of platforms including PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, and various mobile devices.

505 Games added detail to what will feature in the PS4 version in this PlayStation Blog post. Presumably the Xbox One edition will be much the same.

The headline feature of the PS4 version is that it will be almost three times larger than the PS3 game. Players will be able to utilise the DualShock 4’s touch pad by pinching to zoom in or out on the world. 505 Games also announced that the PlayStation 4 edition of Terraria will feature cross-play and a time-limited cross-buy. Players will be able to transfer their save over to PS3 or PS Vita versions of the game and continue playing, as well as being able to enjoy cross-platform multiplayer. Moreover, for a limited time only anyone who buys the PS4 version of Terraria will receive the PS Vita version thrown in for free.

Furthermore, the current gen versions will feature the following list of new content (comparing the PS3 and PS4 versions):

Well over 1,000 new items, including…

  • 10 new ores
  • 4 new wood types
  • 31 new brick types
  • 12 new wing types
  • 29 new tinker combinations
  • 50 new paintings
  • 8 new friendly NPCs
  • 15 new pets
  • Over 100 new enemies
  • 4 new bosses
