Sorry North America but you’ll have to wait till December 5th for the release of Ultimate NES Remix
So this is what happens when 16 bit Bowser eats a mushroom.
Any gamers out there looking for some bit sized nostalgic fun listen up, because Nintendo has just released the third game in their strange NES Remix series titled Ultimate NES Remix for the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS in the UK. The game features over 250 mini-games, online leaderboards and a port of the original Super Mario game called Speed Mario Bros.
Featuring challenges from over 16 different NES era titles including Super Mario Bros 1 + 2, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda 1, Metroid and Doctor Mario Ultimate NES Remix has quick fire mini-games that will force you to play these classic titles differently. For example challenges include playing the original Donkey Kong with most of the screen dark and fighting Whispy Wood as Kirby while Boos close in on you when you don’t stare at them.
Competing challenges will earn you stars which in turn will unlock over 250 mini-games, and you can also take on three unique challenges in a row in the Championship mode. Ultimate NES Remix also has online leaderboards for each mini-game which will not only allow you to show off your best scores but also your replays, so other players can see just how you got your impressive time.
Finally Ultimate NES Remix will also have one additional mode called Speed Mario Bros, which will also you to play through the entire first Mario game at super speed turning it into a challenge of reflexes.
Unfortunately its time for some bad news because the Ultimate NES Remix will not be coming to North America till December 5th for some reason, but on the plus side Nintendo revealed back in July that North America will be exclusively getting the NES Remix pack, which will include both of the Wii U exclusive games NES Remix and NES Remix 2 and it will be released on December 5th along with the Ultimate NES Remix.
Today sees the release of Ultimate NES Remix in the UK and will cost around $29.99. The game will be available in both retailer and digitally but won’t be coming to North America till December 5th.
