Sony Xperia Devices Using Android 5.0 Lollipop

Reported by Sony, the Android Open Source Project was performed on their Xperia line, just after the release of Google source code for the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

Sony Mobile Blog reported that Sony is running at the same time 3 Betas in order to test out the Android 5.0 Lollipop for their Xperia line.

Stated by Sony, they wanted to get all the feedback on the Android 5.0 Lollipop to ensure that owners of the devices will have a satisfactory experience with the official release next year of the software.

Sony stated that they were amped about putting a new OS on their series of Xperia Z in 2015. The Android 5.0 Lollipop will feature some new and improved security and control, as well as a new way in handling notification, better performance, and a lot more.

The devices that will have the new OS include Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Z Tablet, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3V, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, and Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition.

The new OS, however will first roll out on the Google’s Nexus 4-7, including the 2012 and 2012 Nexus 7 variants. When they are first featured on the Google devices, they will then be added to the other companies such as Zenfone and OnePlus One, HTC, Motorola, Sony, Samsung, and LG.

Released on November 3, the Android 5.0 Lollipop was but on hold when users reported that the Nexus 5 batteries drained faster when they enabled Wi-Fi. The senior developer programs engineer, Trevor Johns, stated that the reported glitch was resolved.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update will roll out soon for all devices since the glitch has been fixed.
