Editor Update: This report is quite late, the servers have been back up for a while now.
Within the last couple hours there have been reports of a DDoS attack on EA’s servers. This has rendered Origin’s services offline as of many people on Twitter. Other EA services have also been affected by the situation.
The Lizard Squad known for several DDoS attacks over the last few months have claimed the attack as their own on Twitter in the tweet below. Some of the attacks Lizard Squad has been involved in, include Destiny, Xbox Live, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and the PlayStation Network to name a few.

EA hasn’t made an official statement on the issue quite yet, however the Origin Twitter account has been responding to people experiencing the downtime. This attack comes just after Rockstar Games’ servers were hit most notably affecting Grand Theft Auto Online.
@juliusroessler We’re looking into it right now, keep an eye on our social channels for updates. Thanks for letting us know.
