The iPhone 6 And The Xperia Z3 Compared

by GH Staff

Sony has moved past the troubles it had faced in the mobile segment over the past few years. The latest models provided by the Japanese manufacturer prove to be good enough to take on the best in the market today.

The iPhone 6 features a new display and was only launched in September this year. The Sony XperiaZ3 was launched earlier but it boasts of some serious features like water resistance. This article will take a look at some of the features of the Xperia Z3 and compare them against the iPhone 6.

The Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2 inch display, larger than the 4.7 inch display of the iPhone 6. Although the display for the iPhone has gotten bigger and is more improved than the prior models, the Z3 has taken a number of cues from Sony’s expertise in making high end television sets. The Z3 provides a number of features with regards to display, without affecting the battery life of the device.

It allows users to adjust the balance settings for the display and is also able to achieve a high brightness level without any additional battery consumption. Sony has provided for a full 1080 pixel high definition display and has stayed away from the QHD displays in order to save up on battery life. QHD displays are widely being used in the industry, but Sony has noticed that the improvement in quality is only very slight when it comes to screen sizes below 6 inches. Sony’s decision to give preference to battery life seems to be a smart one. While the iPhone 6 does have a retina high definition display, it still falls short of the impressive display the Z3 offers.

The iPhone 6 is available in variants of 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB in terms of internal storage. The Xperia Z3 offers only 32 GB of internal storage, but provides the option of an external micro-SD card slot to increase storage up to 128 GB. This essentially means that a fully equipped Z3 will provide more storage than the iPhone 6.

In terms of camera, the Xperia Z3 is equipped with a 20 MP rear camera. However, most of the features of the phone are limited to an 8 MP mode. HDR recording works only if the camera is set to 8 MP or lower. The auto feature provided by Sony, however works quite well and manages to handle most situations. The iPhone 6 has an 8 MP camera. Apple is renowned for its software and hardware integration abilities and most of the time the iPhone 6 manages to capture crisper images with more subtle nuances with respect to accurate color reproduction. The iPhone 6 is also capable of shooting time lapse and ultra-slow motion videos. The Z3, on the other hand, is capable of recording videos at 2160p.

In terms of cost, the Sony Xperia Z3 is available for around $700, while the basic 16 GB variant of the iPhone 6 costs about $800.
