Elevator Horror Now Available For Oculus Rift

by GH Staff

Taking advantage of the Oculus Rift’s virtual reality features, indie developer Nifty Studios has released a game called Elevator Horror, which puts players in a small confined elevator as it ascends higher and higher. The catch? Those riding the elevator will encounter terrifying scenarios throughout the ride, consisting of mainly jump scares and not so pleasing sounds piercing your ear drums. Of course, anything like this requires a decent headset to fully immerse yourself and to experience the full effect of such a game.

It’s not the longest game in the world, in fact it’s very short, but it stands as a good example of what the Oculus Rift is capable of – safe to say we can expect plenty more games like this as using the head mounted display (HMD) is perfect as the user can fully put themselves in the game’s world, even if it does include a Slender Man look-a-like jumping out at you at any moment.

Elevator Horror can be downloaded for free via Oculus VR Share Beta for PC with use of the DK2 development kit, although Nifty Studios are planning to add DK1 support. No mention of a Mac or Linux release has yet been mentioned.
