One might wonder why a tablet and an iPhone need to be compared since both belong to different categories of electronic devices and probably serve a purpose different from each other. But if you are planning to buy a tablet or a phone, it would be best for you to consider both the Xperia Z2 and the iPhone 6plus. IPhone 6Plus has been the first iPhone which has taken the screen size to 5.5, the maximum possible for a phone. This has made the 6Plus the biggest iPhone one can buy today. And considering that tablets like Nexus7 only have a 7 inch screen, the 5.5 screen size of 6Plus has put it right in the territory of tablet PCs.
Z2, on the other hand, is the latest tablet launched by Sony and has a 10.1 inch screen display. An interesting fact about tablets is that no company has launched a full QHD or 4K display tablet. This is actually a shame since a tablet with a screen size greater than 6 inches could be made all the more better with a full HD display. Z2 only offers a resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels only, because of which it falls short of hitting the 250 PPI figure. On the other hand, the 6Plus iPhone, even with its smaller screen has exceeded 400 PPI because of its full HD display.
As far as the hardware and memory space of each of these devices is concerned, they vary to a large extent, with the iPhone practically overshadowing the Z2. The iPhone 6Plus has an impressive 128 GB of storage on phone and has practically removed all the technical difficulties involved in loading a microSD card. This huge memory space makes it a perfect device for large applications such as high resolution games. In contrast, the Z2 has a mere 16 GB of internal storage and even memory card is not available for use unless the device is rooted. This is certainly a big let down from Sony. The processor speeds of both the devices are quite exceptional with the iPhone having a 1.4 GHz processor and the Z2 boasting a Snapdragon 801 range. Unfortunately, Z2 fell just a few days short of coming out with the latest 805 range of processor as it was launched slightly before the new range was released.
Of course, both the devices have some unique advantages over the other which could not be copied by either. Keeping up with its tradition of making beautiful electronics, Sony has made the Z2 tablet an absolute beauty with a sleek 6.4 mm thick body, even inspite of the huge screen size. It is also resistant to dust and water, a feature which would probably lure a lot of buyers. The iPhone, on the other hand, comes with 7.1 mm thick body and a fingerprint sensor or touch ID which personalizes the phone to the user.
The final criteria is of course the price. The Sony Z2 is priced at a pretty decent $450 whereas the iPhone 6Plus costs $1150. Its up to you to choose how big a dent you are willing to make in your pocket!
