Sony seems to be moving past the problems it has faced in its mobile division over the past few years. The new series of Xperia phones have marked a resurgence of the Japanese manufacturer in the smartphone market.

The Xperia M2 Dual is one of the newer phones to be launched by Sony and it proves to be great. The Lumia 1320 has been around for slightly longer and has a popular following all over.

The Lumia 1320 features the phablet design which was earlier made famous by Samsung. The smartphone however, does not feature a stylus with its large display of 6 inches. The device supports a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and this affects the pixel density and the quality of the screen for such a large size. The Xperia M2 Dual is aimed to be a mid-segment smartphone and offers a 4.8 inch display supporting a resolution of 540 by 960 pixels. The pixel density for the M2 dual also falls on the lower side as compared to many other smartphones on offer today. The Lumia 1320 features an IPS LCD touchscreen while the Xperia M2 features a TFT touchscreen.

In terms of physical dimensions, the Lumia 1320 measures 164.2 mm by 85.9 mm by 9.8 mm and weighs 220 grams. The Xperia M2 Dual measures 139.7 mm by 71.1 mm by 8.6 mm and weighs in at 148 grams.

The Lumia 1320 sports a 5 MP camera with autofocus and a flash. The Xperia M2 features a slightly better camera at 8 MP, also supported with flash and autofocus.

The Xperia M2 runs on the Android OS while the Lumia1320 supports Microsoft Windows 8. Both these devices offer micro-SD card storage expansion. The Lumia1320 provides 64 GB, double the amount of 32 GB that the Sony device offers. Both the smartphones feature 8 GB of internal storage and 1 GB of RAM.

The Xperia M2 is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The 1.2 GHz processor seems to work decently well enough with the device and gives a smooth performance. Traditionally, the Lumia series of phones have always worked wonderfully well with Windows OS. This is also true in the case of the Lumia 1320 which has a dual core 1.7 GHz processor. Both smartphones feature the capability of multitasking without too many issues. Both the devices also feature an Adreno chip for processing graphics.

The Lumia 1320, being considerably larger than the Xperia M2 has to compensate with a larger battery. For the same length of talk time and standby time, the Lumia 1320 is equipped with a 3400 mAh battery as compared to a 2300 mAh battery for the Xperia M2. The Xperia also features many nifty power saving modes and features.

In terms of retail price, both the Lumia 1320 and the Xperia M2 Dual cost about $250. Lumia 1320 is available in four color options of white, black, yellow and red, while the Xperia M2 is available in white, black and purple color options.
