Steaming service Twitch has announced that the recently released first-person shooter title Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has become 2014’s most streamed game during its launch week.
More than 75,000 unique users broadcasted content from Sledgehammer Games’ first installment in the well-known franchise, with Twitch confirming that the footage streamed from the title has received over 26 million views.
“Since the Call of Duty community on Twitch is extremely passionate, we are not surprised that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare set a milestone for most streamed console game of the year based on launch week comparisons,” says Ernest Le, director of publisher and developer partnerships at Twitch.” Our community spent over an hour a day watching and engaging with people playing the game, illustrating the incredibly strong appeal of live interactive video.”
Twitch also revealed further statistics behind Advanced Warfare’s first week of streaming, as gameplay from this year’s installment received approximately 6 million unique views and a combined total of 327 million minutes watched.
“The response from the global community to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been incredible, with millions of fans playing the new era of Call of Duty and even more watching the action unfold live on Twitch in its first week in the wild,” said Michael Condrey, co-founder and studio head of Sledgehammer Games.
Glen Schofield, co-founder and studio head of Sledgehammer Games, added: “The team at the studio is thrilled to see players think the game we’ve poured our heart and soul into making these last three years is not only fun to play, but very exciting to watch.”
Michael Condrey also revealed last week that his development team is currently working on a new update for Advanced Warfare, with Sledgehammer Games’ studio head expressing “Our commitment to continuing to support the game.”
