Square Enix updates FFXIV Patch 2.4 on Three Dungeons

Announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2014, Final Fantasy XIV will receive another patch called “Dreams of Ice” in the future. In the official trailer and other trailers shown in the previous article, audiences can see that the 2.4 patch will include new dungeons and the almighty Shiva.  To watch the dungeon scenes in the Japanese trailer again, please watch this video.

As preparations for patch 2.4 are almost complete at this point, Square Enix has offered an opportunity to glance at Snowcloak, the stronghold of heretics serving the Dravanian horde, as well as Hard incarnations of Sastasha and the Sunken Temple of Qarn. Here’s some information for the new dungeon called Snowcloak:

  • Level required: 50 (Disciple of War or Magic)
  • Party Size: 4 players
  • Time Limit: 90 minutes
  • Quest, prerequisites and item level requirements are currently unknown.

“The landscape of Eorzea has undergone a great many changes in the wake of the Calamity, giving way to anomalies heretofore unseen. The great ice wall, Snowcloak, is one such construct molded in the aftermath of Bahamut’s rampage. Once thought to be impassable, recent reports tell of a network of tunnels piercing through the heart of this crystalline impasse. Duty demands these passageways be investigated, but woe unto he who finds their creator.”

Unlike the new dungeon, players have already explored these two areas, but they now have hard mode. Here’s the details for Satasha.

  • Level required: 50 (Disciple of War or Magic)
  • Party Size: 4 players
  • Time Limit: 90 minutes
  • Quest: It’s Definitely Pirates
  • Prerequisites: Players must have completed the main scenario quest “The Ultimate Weapon.”
  • Item level requirements are currently unknown.

“Tucked deep inside the dank caverns of the Sastasha Seagrot, there is a secret port said to have been built by the pirate Mistbeard. In the years following the Calamity, the notorious Serpent Reavers claimed it as their lair, until the cutthroats were vanquished by a band of dauntless adventurers. The place subsequently came under the control of Lominsan authorities, who maintained a security presence within. Alas, that control did not last, for an unknown faction has arisen─seemingly from the briny depths─and overwhelmed the occupying Yellowjackets. Opinion is divided over the identity of these foes. Some say that they are pirates, while others swear that they are fiends. Yet it does not take a scholar to see that these two things need not be mutually exclusive.”

Finally, players can get details for the other dungeon, The Sunken Temple of Qarn.

  • Level required: 50 (Disciple of War or Magic)
  • Party Size: 4 players
  • Time Limit: 90 minutes
  • Quest: The Wrath of Qarn
  • Prerequisites: Players must have completed the main scenario quest “The Ultimate Weapon” and have cleared the dungeon Temple of Qarn.
  • Item level requirements are currently unknown.

“Adventurers fear not danger, scholars care not for comfort, and miners like not unturned stones. Thus was born the unlikely partnership between the Order of Nald’thal and Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern, in the wake of a certain adventurer’s conquest of the Sunken Temple’s notorious traps. But the dead of Qarn left many snares─more than enough for a thousand years of greed─and now, a tomb raider’s fevered dream of riches has stranded the joint expedition in a place where history has a tendency to come alive…”

goninja!

As a quick reminder, the developer and publisher has stated the patch is nearly finish. Meaning, the Dream of Ice patch could potentially release around the holiday season. Therefore, cross your fingers, and go ninja, go ninja, go!For more information that’s not mentioned in this article about this video game, please visit the official website.

Yeah. Though, I wish I could have attended it. Regardless, it can possibly be release right after the event, but I figured they’re aiming to release it sometime closer to winter. After all, the patch’s name and environment are keeping to a cold theme.

Holiday release doesn’t make sense, I heard October. Cause the GOTY Edition of the game includes 2.4 and that comes out in November.
