Promised Destiny Update Fixes Final Raid Boss Exploit

Almost two weeks ago we were promised that the sci-fi shooter and pseudo MMO Destiny would receive an update that would fix the game’s Vault of Glass raid, where a glitch would cause the final boss, Atheon, to stop attacking players and – as a humerus result – be vulnerable to be steadily pushed off the edge of his local environment.

“The encounter goal for Atheon is to act as a climax and the culmination of learning for a given Raid group. Part of that is making sure that each player in your group can perform every job as required,” Bungie’s communality manager, David “Deej” Dague, said in regards to the glitch a couple of weeks back.

“A change will take effect next week which fixes a bug with Atheon’s target selection. When using its Timestream ability, Atheon will select 3 players at random, instead of choosing the three players furthest from it.”

And that update is now here.

With the introduction of Destiny’s 1.0.2.3. update, players will no longer be able to take advantage of the Vault of Glass exploit to push Atheon off his platform. Like what Deej outlined two weeks ago, the update also changes Atheon’s Timestream ability; he will now choose random players to teleport during the raid’s final encounter.

Also with the update comes general fixes to game, such as the issue with Zebra error codes, as well as the allegedly rare issue of being “Kicked To Login” continuously. A similarly rare issue which resulted in “Kick To Orbit” reported with the Cockatoo error code has also been fixed.

The server-side of things have also been given a tune-up, too: along with an increase in protection against player accounts being corrupted, players will now no longer be mistakenly “kicked at the beginning of an activity due to a server error.
