Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty Wii U is struggling due to the Wii U 8GB storage

Yes Abe that's very clever but can we please go home now. Oddworld New 'n' Tasty is too dangerous for me.

It was revealed over the weekend that while it hasn’t been cancelled yet, the studio Oddworld Inhabitants are facing considerable challenge in releasing Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty on the Wii U. As it turns out the culprit is the 8 GB of storage that some Wii U’s have, since players can buy a Wii U with either 8GB or 32 GB of storage.

Gamespot has reported that on the Fragments of Silicon podcast, the series creator Lorne Lanning stated that for the Wii U version “ If you’re going to make a game for the Wii U it better run on the 8 GB unit, otherwise it’s not really a Wii U game. I’m desperate to get on Nintendo, I believe it will resonate with that audience.”

The reason behind the 8 GB problem is that Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty is currently only a downloadable title so unless they shrink down the file size, alot of Wii U owners with the 8 GB storage system, either won’t download the game because they can’t or they won’t because it takes up too much room.

On October 17th Oddworld Inhabitants took to twitter to reassure Wii U owners with the tweet “New ‘n’ Tasty is not cancelled on Wii U. We are currently having challenges with the platform that we are striving to overcome.”

Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty is a remake of the classic 1997 title Oddworld Abes Oddysee for the PlayStation 1. It is currently only available for the PS4, but it will be coming to the PS Vita and PS3 as a cross-buy title, while PC and Xbox One players will be happy to know that it will be coming there as well.
