After being announced through a mysterious guerrilla marketing campaign, Wii U’s very own Minecraft-style sandbox game UCraft from Nexis Games has received its first trailer showing off alpha game footage. Right at the beginning they announce “We don’t want your money, we want your heart,” which frankly, is slightly terrifying. Amusingly, they also claim “this is not a clone.” Riiiiight:
The trailer shows off your avatar from the game, Mighty Mike, and touts that the game will have full Wii U gamepad integration, as well as SDKPaint integration allowing you to create custom textures for the surfaces in the game. The trailer also suggests that the game will feature frequent updates & DLC.
As much as UCraft would like us to not think of their project merely as a Minecraft clone, it’s a welcome addition to the console as Nintendo has no true sandbox games and Microsoft has no plans to bring the ever-popular Minecraft to Nintendo. Microsoft has yet to make any comments about this “original” game for Wii U, which will supposedly be ready to download for Christmas.
