Frank West Has Been Cast for the Dead Rising Movie

by GH Staff

The character of Frank West has officially been cast for the upcoming Dead Rising: Watchtower movie.

Legendary Entertainment has revealed that comedian Rob Riggle, a former Daily Show correspondent, has been cast in the role of Frank West. Riggle, who was also seen in the films 21 Jump Street and Let’s Be Cops, will take on the role of West who at this time is the only confirmed character from the video game series to be featured in Dead Rising: Watchtower.

Taking place outside of any of the events from the Dead Rising games, Dead Rising: Watchtower’s official film synopsis describes the film as taking place “during a large-scale zombie outbreak” with “politics, public paranoia, and media coverage [playing] an important role in the story’s narrative.”

The film’s director Zack Lipovski has previously described the film as “Indiana Jones with zombies”and has stated that the film will have “fun, scary, dramatic action”. Lipovski has also described the film as taking place within the canon of the games:

The film is set in a new outbreak with new heroes, in a new city. So it’s not a direct adaptation of one of the previous games, but it does fit into the cannon of the storyline. It takes place between the Fortune City outbreak in Dead Rising 2 and Los Perdidos outbreak from Dead Rising 3.

Dead Rising: Watchtower will debut digitally on Crackle in the US and will eventually receive a home video release at some point in the future.
