Today, Sony has announced the PlayStation Vita firmware update 3.30 for the PlayStation Vita and PS4. Later tonight, PS Vita system update will be available to download, enabling the owners to personalize their PS Vita’s Start and Home screens, system application icons, and the system’s background music. Additionally, folks can manage the new various themes like Crystal, Four Seasons, Stitching, etc. through the system settings after they acquire them from the PlayStation Network Store when it updates.
For more creative themes, they can purchase them from the PlayStation Store as well. Unfortunately, gaming-related themes like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway, and Freedom Wars will be available “soon.” For folks who love hunting down trophies, the PS4’s ability to see the rarity of any trophy will be transfer to the PS Vita.
Sony also explained another implemented feature (the calendar app), which allow the user to send event files from the calender to friends by using messages or email. Once received, the user’s friends can also add these files to their calendar. Besides sharing plans within the same social group, the user can also add events to the list from other people.
In the end, this update is really about using the other minor functions from the handheld console. This particular version doesn’t enhance the gaming experiences, but it does entice these users to try other options when they are not predominately using the handheld for playing games. For one, folks won’t spend long hours on changing the themes or utilizing the calendar app.
Secondly, technology fans might use these settings temporarily or not, since they own other advance devices that accomplishes similar tasks. For instances, folks won’t just settle for the email option when they’re quite satisfied with sending messages with their phones. While having the ability to personalize the PS Vita system is nice, this update still doesn’t improve its primary and predominate function: that is playing games.
[Update:] New sources from Japan mention more upcoming features:

Note*: The western PlayStation Store for Vita TV/PS TV is still locked, but it can still possibly change soon when Sony gears up for the launch of PlayStation TV in the west.
