[Update: Folks can reserve a copy of Hover: Urbance Edition at Kickstarter by purchasing a special standalone tier that comes with a HD pilot episode of the animated series.]
Since September 22, Steambot has been crowd-funding an animated action television series called URBANCE; this mature show will contain 26 minutes of stunning visuals and blasting tunes in a postmodern world filled with its own issues: gang violence, sexual transmitted diseases, gender equality, and more. Living in this urban setting when hip-hop vibes and electronics are booming, Kenzell (a male protagonist of the Neo Blasterz) and Lesya (a female protagonist of the Deadly Eves) live within a frustrated community and a society that’s been divided by gender due to a deadly disease that’s currently incurable.
As a result, these men and women grew up hating each other. To make matters worse, a love sparks between Kenzell and Lesya, a couple defying authority, rebelling against logic, and more. Here’s a glance at their bittersweet romantic story and a sneak peek of this upcoming project (if successfully funded):
Now that folks have a general description and a footage about this innovative project, here are some important facts about this television show’s future. URBANCE is a growing franchise that will develop through several platforms including gaming ones. A representative from the creative team behind URBANCE has shared some exclusive details with us.
“Several deals are already in place. The first involves partnerships with existing games that succeeded on Kickstarter and have a story world close to ours. The first of those games is HOVER by Midgard Studio. The deal is to cross over Urbance with Hover by including some Urbance characters in their game and designing levels. Some of their elements will be featured in the serie (the characters of the serie play videogames, one will be Hover and Hover will be a company with a role in the plot of the serie).”
As a quick little reminder, Hover: Revolt of Gamers was successfully funded at KickStarter and accumulated $116,398 USA dollars, which greatly surpassed their initial goal for $38,000 on May 22. Basically, this unique video game is an open world paradise for parkour in a three-dimensional, futuristic urban setting. Besides roaming across the large area, players will have to free citizens who rebel against the government and its mayor for the anti-video games laws. This final product will be digitally distributed for the Wii-U and personal computer in 2015. While global audiences should expect to read and see more contents about this partnership in the future, Steambot has other plans as well.
“Besides that add-on strategy (which will expand through other games too including mobile ones), we plan on doing a proprietary dance/combat game (kinect based) and a DJ musical mobile game (where the player has to tap colors on a pad following different beats) with in app purchase of exclusive tunes. We are also in talk to develop an RPG game but we can’t say too much about that yet.”
Although it’s unfortunate about why they can’t provide too much details about the RPG game, it’s also quite understandable since they are aiming to raise a minimum of $189,000 to complete the production of a pilot episode. After completion, this pilot will be presented to broadcasters, investors and festivals as an independent artistic vision that will stand as the ground base of a full TV series with Transmedia developments. Anything raised above the minimum goal will be invested toward the production of the first episode of Urbance.
Currently, they still need $100,000, but they also have twenty-two days left. Therefore, here are some ways to contact them and access more content. To support this campaign, please visit the KickStarter campaign. For more information, please visit the official website.
