Comparing Nokia Lumia 1520 vs Nokia Lumia 1020

In the past few years, Nokia has been improving their high-end phones in order to compete with the main tech giants such as Apple and Samsung.

The Lumia 1520 was recently launched by Nokia, and although it came out less than a year ago, it still remains one of the company’s best phones. After the launch of the Lumia 1020 in June of last year, they decided to roll out a newer edition, that is sure to still impress against other newer phones.

Although they both are Lumia, they are very different in features and quality. The Lumia 1020 is considered the standard smartphone that offers specifications that are more high-end. While the Lumia 1520 tries to hop on the phablet trend in which it offers a 6 inch display, unlike the Lumia 1020 that is only 4.5 inches.

Display

The Lumia 1520 offers such a mammoth screen that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 looks small in comparison. The leader of the phablet market, it is only 5.5 inches. The Lumia 1420 also offers a resolution of full HD, unlike their predecessor with QHD display. The Lumia 1020 while having a smaller screen still has impressive pixels with 720 pixel density. Since it offers more screen real estate, their pixel density is similar, but the battery life last longer for a smaller phone.

Camera

Both the Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 1020 offer some of the best cameras on a smartphone in the market. The Lumia 1020 offers a 41MP camera, while the Lumia 1520 offers a 20MP camera. Both have similar specifications and offer users optical video stabilization, full HD video recording, inbuilt panorama mode, PureView technology, optical image stabilization, Carl Zeiss optics, and other features. The Lumia 1520 offers a dual-LED flash, while the Lumia 1020 has the features of xenon flash.

Performance

The two smartphones offer similar performance, since they provide the same hardware and software. Both have the option to upgrade to the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, and Lumia 1520 upgrades to the Snapdragon quad-core 2.2GHz processor, and the latest generation graphics processing units. The Lumia 1020 offers the Snapdragon dual-core 1.5GHz processor, but they both share the same 2GB of RAM.

The batteries greatly different for the two smartphones, as the Lumia 1020 comes with a 2000mAh non-removable battery, and the Lumia 1520 houses a bigger battery for their mammoth phone at 3400mAh.

Price

The prices are very similar, as the Lumia 1020 will set you back at $450, while the Lumia 1520 for the 32GB version will run you around $480.
