XBOX One’s International Release Delayed in China

by GH Staff

I’m sorry China, but it seems that modern firearms aren’t the only thing you’re going to get a bit late.

The Second Opium War. Too soon?

The XBOX One was originally set to release in China on September 22nd, though due to unusually vague (even by Game Industry standards) reasons, it has been postponed. Microsoft claims now that the XBOX One will launch near the end of 2014.

“Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China.” -Microsoft’s Official Press Release

Frankly, I’m surprised China’s even getting a formal XBOX One release. I guess it really goes to show you how far they’ve come in less than 100 years- from a Communist Dictator to a wide release of a predominantly American piece of hardware. Either that, or they’re so far behind with their own gaming technology that they have no choice but to mooch off the Westerners.

Do with the knowledge that this garbage exists as you will.

Microsoft, however, has stated that those who pre-ordered the XBOX One for the September 22nd release will still be getting their machines first and with “an added bonus”. Maybe the “bonus” is the absence of whatever the Chinese Government uses to monitor their online activity.

Oh wait, they can’t get rid of XBOX Live, now can they?
