Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS was just released in Japan yesterday, and the highly anticipated game has received its very first review score from Japanese gaming website, Famitsu.
Read more details after the break.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS – First Review Score
To preface the following information, Famitsu has an interesting approach to their game reviews, utilizing a system that involves 4 separate writers that each conduct a review of the game (Super Smash Bros. for 3DS in this case), and then tally each reviewer’s score into one comprehensive number. Additionally, Famitsu scores games out of 40.
With this in mind, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS’ first review score is a 37/40, with 3 of the game’s reviewers giving it a 9, and 1 doling out a 10. On Famitsu’s scale, this is an exceptionally high score, and bodes well for gamers eagerly awaiting the North American and European release of the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.
For the sake of comparison, Famitsu gave 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl a perfect score – 40/40. Keep in mind that Brawl was reviewed for the Wii, and this particular score is for the Nintendo 3DS iteration of Super Smash Bros.
It will be interesting to see how the Wii U version of the game stacks up against its handheld brother. Regardless, Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS is shaping up to be a great title for gamers around the world.
The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. is set to release on October 3rd, 2014 for both North America and Europe, and released yesterday (9/13/2014) in Japan.
Recently, a Twitter user, BluesDriveBuster, has recently posted an image online of a Fred Meyer game reservation card that reveals that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release on November 21st, 2014.
Nintendo has stated the reason for not releasing the 3DS and Wii U versions simultaneously is to allow each version a debugging period.
In related news, a demo of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will go live on September 19th in the United States. Additionally, Nintendo has announced that codes for the demo were sent out to select members via email.
One of the GamerHeadlines staff got his hands on the demo, and has written a first impressions preview about it. Read that particular post here.
