An artist on the Unreal Engine forums, Ryan Watkins, has recently shared some screenshots of his detailed environment work using Unreal Engine 4, and it is absolutely gorgeous.
What Skyrim Might Look Like Using Unreal Engine 4
The screenshots are from Ryan’s Landscape Mountain project, a work-in-progress that he’s been working on for a good amount of time. While not exactly the the massive open-world from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the screenshots show what a current-generation, open-world game/RPG akin to Skyrim might look like using the Unreal Engine.
Here’s what Ryan had to say on his work:
“Hey everyone, I it been a while sense my last update. After the Landscape Mountain sample content came out I spent a lot of time dissecting the scene and as a result rebuilt my project from the ground up. Still a lot a of work to do but I’m really excited about how much it has progressed and wanted to share it with everyone.”
And honestly, we’re glad he did share some screenshots of his project.

What are your thoughts on the screenshots? Do you think Skyrim would be better if it was created in Epic’s Unreal Engine? Do you hope that upcoming open-world games will look as good as these images?
