Shadow of Mordor Launch Trailer: First Impressions

Shadow of Mordor Bayonetta 2 similar NDA

Warner Bros. and Monolith Productions have just released the Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor launch trailer. Set in the Lord of the Rings Universe, you play as the ranger with wraith-like abilities Talion. You’ll be able to explore the open world environment as well as take on main quests, similar to Skyrim. You will then be off for revenge after being killed by Sauron’s armies, then revived.

I’d suggest watching the trailer below, as the impressions will be based off of that!

It’s good to see that we’ll have another Lord of the Rings game. Especially one that’s as ambitious as this. The studios have talked about Shadow of Mordor implementing the Nemesis system, which allows enemies to learn and adapt to your difficulty throughout the game. This also means you can’t use the same combo over and over again. You’ll have to switch it up. This is interesting, because they only way to get better is to understand the rest of the game. This could be a game that people get wrapped away in.

The story seems pretty clear throughout the trailer. You’ve been gone for a while and have had to bury all of your family and friends. Now you want to get revenge on those who took everything away from you. Nothing to complicated there. But, the Lord of the Rings lore and gameplay are going to drive this game home. The cinematics are great, the character is interesting, and of course having esteemed voice actor Troy Baker voice Talion will really give depth. Those who don’t know about this game already and are interested in the open world play style should strongly consider taking a peek at this game.

Shadow of Mordor has been released and is raring to go for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3. The DLC Pass is $25 and will include all upcoming additional content, such as new missions, modes, runes, and more.

What do you think of this trailer? More importantly, what do you think of Shadow of Mordor? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
